6KW 2021/2022

Miss Warren

Hello, my name is Miss Warren and this is my third year teaching at Offley and I am really excited to be staying in year 6 :-) After graduating with a degree in Education Studies, I completed the first half of my teacher training here at Offley and could not wait to become part of the team at this amazing school. In my spare time, I love travelling and ticking destinations off my bucket list, my next one (hopefully) being Venice! I also enjoy spending time with my friends, family and my very mischievous dog Tyson (who is always causing havoc in my house). I am also the D&T lead here at Offley :-)

We are also very lucky to have the lovely Mrs. Walkley supporting both classes every morning!

Summer Term Information

This term, our topic will be Crime and Punishment!

Our text this half term is 'Sky Chasers' by Emma Carrol, which is an adventurous and imaginative story of the first hot air balloon created by the Montgolfier brothers in Annona, France.

Each week I will update the website with information about what is currently being covered. I will also upload any homework or spellings given out that week. If you have any questions or queries feel free to see me at the end of the school day or contact me through the school office. Admin will then forward on any messages or arrange meetings at a mutually convenient time.

PE- This will take place on a MONDAY afternoon. The children will need indoor and outdoor kit.

Guided Reading - Every Friday we will teach a designated guided reading session that will use high quality texts linked to our usual English lessons. At the moment we are reading: Great Adventurers by Alastair Humphreys

Times tables tests - These will take place every Thursday morning.

Week ending 24.06.22

Well that’s another week that’s absolutely flown by!
On Monday, the children started their ‘Theme Park maths project’ and they have been absolute superstars in their teams! At the start of the week, they had to look at building their own theme park and work out the costs of having certain rides, attarctions and amentities. After that, they designed some detailed brochures advertising their theme parks and then looked at how much their maintenance costs would be during their first two weeks of opening. We have really had to think carefully about using our budget wisely and used lots of maths skills a long the way!
In English, the children planned and started to write their final piece of writing and this time, it is a split narrative based on our class text: Sky Chasers. The children have been given the tricky task of writing from not one - but two perspectives! They are trying really hard to include our feature and mastery keys and we are really looking forward to reading the finished pieces next week!
In other areas of the curriculum, the children have been screenprinting and researching batik in Art. They have also started their new topic of Fairgrounds and as a class, we came up with our key questions that we need to find out before we make our very own working fairground ride! They have also started researching the history of fairground rides and how they work.
As well as all of this, we have been rehearsing our songs for our awards evening, developing our hockey and athletics skills in PE and working on our BIG art project!!
Enjoy your weekend year 6 :-)
