Mr Lamb (6LF Class Teacher)

Hi. I am Mr Lamb and I'm very excited to be teaching in Year 6 again this year. This will be my fourth year teaching at Offley. Previous to Offley, I have taught in Manchester, Slovakia, Kent, and in Japan over a total period of 15 years. I have primarily taught in Year 6, and have led a range of subjects, including science and maths, which I will now be leading alongside Mrs Furlong.

I have two young children, who attend school in Alsager, one who is in Year 4 and the other who is in Year 2. I enjoy running, cycling, reading and spending time with my family.

Weekly Update: (W.E 06.01.23)

A big welcome back and Happy New Year to everyone. It's been wonderful to have the children back and they have returned with a great, positive attitude. As always, we are straight back into hard work and good learning.

We have now started a new book called 'The Selfish Giant' by Oscar Wilde. This is a classic tale from the 19th Century and is full of rich language. So far, we have looked at the blurb and the opening but there is already a super understanding and a willingness to find out more. I can't wait to read more and see more wonderful writing.

In maths, we are still working with fractions, but have moved on to multiplying fractions by fractions and dividing fractions by whole numbers. Bar models have been a great way to see what is happening, but the children the simple method - multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators.

In other areas of the curriculum, we have started our new topic of North America and biomes from around the world. Already the children have learnt what some of the countries and cities are within the continent and by the end of the topic they will be making some delicious food inspired by North American culture.

An exciting first week with more to come.
